Name Grant County
Details Grant County in east central Washington is circled by the Columbia River on the south and west and bounded on the north by Douglas County, on the east by Lincoln and Adams counties, on the south by Benton County, and on the east by Douglas, Yakima, and Kittitas counties. It is an agricultural county covering 2,777 sq. miles, and producing wheat, fruit, potatoes, and livestock. It was established on February 24, 1909 by the State Legislature. The county was named for Ulysses S. Grant, eighteenth president of the United States, and leader of Union forces in the Civil War who had served at Fort Vancouver in the 1850s.
