Description Black and white photo with white border of Lewis Wapato wrapped in blanket standing next to his horse. Image of probable Native American man with two braids, wearing wide brimmed hat, and holding reins to horse. Man dressed in beaded moccasins, buttoned long sleeve shirt with buttoned vest, and holding stripped blanket around waist and over proper left shoulder. Horse has blanket, saddle, stirrups, and reins. Man and horse standing in field with vegetation with wooden and possible barb wire fence in background.

Note on back of photo written in pencil: "14 - Lewis Wapato (1st and only Indian lawyer / in Wash. 1906). A fine old Blanket Man / nephew of Matilda Wapato, Manson Wn."
